[THESAFEKOREA] Forklift fire response by one person with SAFEDOME

Forklift fire response by one person with SAFEDOME

Recent fire incidents at large logistics centers and industrial sites have drawn increasing attention to the need for stronger workplace fire response systems.

Logistics centers and manufacturing facilities contain various potential fire hazards, including electrical equipment, stored materials, and battery-charging facilities.

Forklifts are essential for transporting materials and carrying out daily operations. However, because they use batteries and electrical components, facilities must be equipped with appropriate initial-response equipment in preparation for potential fires.

Today, we would like to introduce the SAFEDOME-LMW3.4H Forklift Model, an initial fire response system for forklifts that was recently supplied to the Hyundai Home Shopping Logistics Center.

SAFEDOME is an initial fire response system designed to help prevent flames and heat from spreading to surrounding areas in the event of a vehicle or forklift fire. It can be moved into position and closed around the affected equipment by a single operator.
The SAFEDOME-LMW3.4H Forklift Model is specifically designed to accommodate the greater height, structure, and dimensions of forklifts compared with standard vehicles. It can be deployed at industrial sites where forklifts are operated, including logistics centers, factories, and warehouses.

In large logistics centers or industrial facilities, it may be difficult to place dedicated fire response equipment near every forklift.

The mobile SAFEDOME can be stored in a designated location during normal operations and quickly moved to the location of the affected forklift in the event of a fire.

A single adult operator can move SAFEDOME approximately 20 meters in under 10 seconds. Upon reaching the forklift, the operator can use the auxiliary mechanism to enclose the forklift with the system in approximately 10 seconds.

SAFEDOME is equipped with a connection port that allows a fire hydrant hose to be attached.

Once connected to a fire hydrant, the internal water spray system helps lower the temperature inside SAFEDOME and reduce the spread of fire.

Depending on the situation, SAFEDOME can also be moved while spraying water, helping reduce exposure to flames and heat as the operator approaches the forklift where the fire has occurred.

Rapid initial response with SAFEDOME can help professional firefighters carry out follow-up operations more effectively upon arrival and minimize potential damage.

We hope SAFEDOME’s capabilities and practical on-site usability will strengthen fire response preparedness at industrial facilities and contribute to creating safer workplaces.
